details of the surprise party @ 2:01 PM

ok let's begin from last week around this time. don't know why it suddenly occurred to me that we could have a gathering cum birthday surprise party for owl. hooked up with totto, icy and ivan on msn. we had planned on going to essential brew for the outing as they have a pretty cosy upper floor. but when i called up the place they said that the upper floor would only be opened at 6pm. so i asked if we could have the function room if we held a birthday party ($21++/pax, minimum 8pax) there, and i got a ridiculous reply that for the function room they'd have to employ an extra staff and that we'd have to pay $200 more. come on lor.. 1 staff for like a 2-3 hour thing doesn't cost $200. so after that we kinda gave up on essential brew.

next we decided on tcc at circular road as they had bean bag seats. they required us to get the cake from them, which i was prepared to and okay with. but they don't have an online cake catalogue. so quite sian diao.

then when i asked for owl's opinion on tue she mentioned that she rather minds or settlers cuz we could do something. and so it was settled. settlers it was. haha.

let's see. on saturday,

i got up called up 37 degrees at vivo to check what time they opened, and thank goodness they'd be open by the time i got there. so picked up the cake from my place and owl's tee from vivo then headed down to settlers by cab to drop off the cake. thankfully i was like about 10 minutes earlier. if not i may have bumped into owl and the rest before i dropped off the cake. cuz right after i bought a packet of napkins from ntuc, i met the rest outside. heng sia!!! icy told owl i was buying napkins! lucky owl hasn't been having enough sleep so didn't suspect. roarr!!!

we had lunch at the hawker centre at holland village. totto joined us there. late but not as late as ivan. ivan was still at home when we were having lunch! lols

when we got to settlers we ordered our drinks. must say the variety not as good as minds. we took quite a long time getting in our orders, mainly because of mager. *bish* he wanted a float but drank neither of the soft drinks that it came with. so he changed his order to milo. but the server said they only have hot milo, which he didn't want and they weren't flexible enough to just add ice to it. then he asked if he could have milo float. dots. of course they didn't have that, so he changed his mind yet again, to just coke cuz he thought float was weird. i can't really remember le but he ended up with a coke float. *whacks*

we picked and tried a variety of games but somehow all didn't seem as fun. maybe it was because of the lack of people around (we were the only ones there) the atmosphere was kinda quiet? i don't know how to say. but i must say that the servers were helpful with recommendations of games and were great at explaining the games to us. we tried like taboo, mad gap, few others which names i can't remember. ended up playing loot which i think was the game we had most fun playing. it's kinda like the sleeping queens one we played at minds. for more details on how to play loot, see ivan's blog. =P

icy had to go at around 1.30 so i decided we should have the cake cutting. so i went over to the counter to ask for the cake. i was whispering cuz the surprise wasn't sprung yet. then the server like look at me blur blur cuz she wasn't the one who took it from me. then by the time she got the cake outta the fridge... owl saw le. SPOILER!!! i wanted to light the candles and all before serving the cake lor. hmph.

i think it was then that owl finally realised it was a surprise thingy. haha. okay so operation "surprise party" was quite a success la. we each had more than enough cake and continued with another round or two of loot before the 2 hours were up. again inflexibilty. like no one in the whole place then shoo us off. i think minds didn't charge for the extra 30-45 minutes that we stayed. oh well.. totto had to go to meet her parents. the rest of us (ivan, kaka, mager, owl and me) decided to play pool. ivan made a rather amusing though lame remark.
ivan: let's go da pool *making a hand gesture that indicated hitting something* T.T

went to our usual pool hang out at park lane shopping mall and played about 2 hours of pool. was super funny with mager hitting the white ball countless times into the pockets and even off the table. *tsk tsk* too violent le. horny violent mager. haha. think in the last 2 rounds we were saying that each time he hit the white ball into the pocket he'd have to contribute 1 mil to the guild fund and 10 mil if the white ball flew off the table. at the end of the day, he like chalked up 17 mil worth of contributions! this was only in like 2 rounds. he played like 5 rounds? so i'll leave you all to imagine how much he'd have owed the guild fund if we counted from the start. =x

owl and me didn't join the guys for dinner cuz we were both quite shack liao. so we headed to the mrt and went home. i think both owl and me concussed on the train. haha. oops.
