sunday was a really eventful day. started out like many others with me going to church. i came home when on the comp and with much assistance made it to level 120 and advanced to bishop. thanks dodo doudou, shaun and shane for the training, bh for the level up SS, shaun for the advancement SS and owllie and ning for the megaphone =)
we had made plans for dinner but cuz i took so long to level and advance, we only met for dinner at 8pm. i left the house the earliest but since everyone else needed more time i decided to shop around the mall at my place. met bh at hougang mrt before going down to marina bay together. realised that he actually knows a couple of my secondary schoolmates that went to his jc, especially those in band.
arrived at marina bay possibly at the same time as shaun but despite his chop leg-ness he had long enough legs to run ahead to the bus stop. =P dodo was the last one. tsk tsk. haha. no la.. who ask her life in such an ulu place =x considering the frequency of the bus, we were lucky we only waited less than 5 minutes for the bus and cuz we
chionged fast, we even got seats. haha. on the bus shaun pull out his frisbee from his bag. we looked out at the dark dark sky and decided maybe we should do it some other time. chalet!!! but since he brought it out, i suggested using it as an extra plate since we were likely to need one. haha
there were so many steamboat-bbq stalls to choose from! apparently it was dodo's and shaun's first time there. bh i'm not sure. but i've been there at least 4 times for steamboat-bbq. i suggested dragon village (which i frequent with my seniors) and the rather large outlet just behind the bus stop (forgot the name). we settled on dragon village.
the place still pretty crowded considering it was 8+. i picked out some pre-cooked snacks such as nuggets,
samosa,
mantou, wanton and the likes cuz i figured we were all pretty hungry. the guys picked out the uncooked food which included 3 types of chicken marinated differently, a whole range of balls (fish, sotong, vegetable, mushroom, seafood), oyster mushroom, beancurd... i decided to "flavour" the soup and so picked out some herbs - wolfberries, red dates and some other strips of herbs, chinese mushrooms and wintermelon which i conveniently dunked into the pot. haha. once the bbq plate seemed to be heated up sufficiently, me and the guys smothered the aluminium foil with butter before i threw on the 3 different types of chicken to be cooked.
notice it's always the guys and me... roarr.. someone (let's not mention who =P) was waiting to be served lor. haha. actually i think i rather she not cook also =P oops. no la. joking. actually i like doing the cooking at steamboat and bbq. yes yes, if jinwei isn't gonna be the cook at the chalet, i volunteer. hehe.
we all had our fill of food and upon looking at some of the leftovers we had, i just remarked that i saw a sign denoting that there will be a $5 surcharge per 100g of food wasted. on hearing that shaun was like "what?! eh.. i can help to eat" or something like that. so while he was eating we cracked some jokes, made chop leg remarks, shared a little bit about one another... dunno when dodo suddenly looked over at the other table and nudged me to look while saying "look at the amount of food they have" i looked over and almost spat out my drink and fell off my chair. there was a lot a lot a lot of food. like one mountain of each type of food, both cooked and uncooked. seriously, the amount of food there would probably be able to feed everyone who were to go for the chalet, and there was only 5 people at the table. it's like there's already so much food and they still keep cooking without even finishing what they had cooked earlier. shaun then remarked if we had 500g of wastage then the probably had 10kg. okay maybe that's a bit exaggerated, but ah.. i think all the uneaten food on the other table could easily amount to 4-5kg at least.
i remember saying that since we have a number of fish/sotongballs left, we should just drop them on the floor and kick it over to the other table =x okay maybe that's a bit bad. but you really should have seen them lor. *faints* we finished off our dinner with a stick of complimentary ice cream each. as we headed to the bus stop. someone made a comment about how round the moon was and dodo immediately commented that we should not point at it least our ears be cut off. i remember my
ahma telling me that too, but neither one of us knew the reason. i commented that it was just some superstition. shaun then said it's superstition but it is important to know how it came about. he then illustrated by saying something like the following. "maybe it's some world war 2, like someone was pointing at the moon then the japanese saw his hand and cut off his ear." so chop leg right? all see shaun's chop leg-ness and wonderful imagination. i say wonderful imagination cuz he thought this up in a matter of 10 seconds or less! haha.
anyway, i had tonnes of fun this outing. we laughed a lot and made lots of lame comments throughout. oh yes, we also
suan-ed each other a lot too. no prizes for guessing who
suan-ed me the most =P pity owllie, rainie and tuna couldn't join us. next time must come wor =)
i'm once again reminded that it really is the company that matters most. the food doesn't have to be expensive, the place doesn't have to be posh, all that matters is the people.
my dear dearest friends, i hope you always remember how much you mean to me and how much i love you even though i may not say it often enough. *hugs* those who are having exams or still rushing assignments and work, JIAYOU!!!
