Christmas @ 11:44 PM

in a flash Christmas is over and the year is coming to an end. it's odd how even though Christmas is supposed to be such a joyous occasion, it somehow always makes me feel emotional and on the verge of tears each year. perhaps it's because it signifies yet another year coming to an end. perhaps it's because as i look back upon the past months of the year, i feel that i haven't done my best in certain things. perhaps it's the uncertainty that lies ahead in the coming year. i don't know really.

inspite of everything, we had what i would say was a wonderful... almost perfect little gathering over at my place on Christmas eve. for the benefit for those who couldn't join us, here's the attendance - andy, boon2, dest, ivan, jor, mager, O, M, T, R yan. as for the food, ordered the following from cold storage which came chilled and vacuum packed - one whole chicken, 1.5kg of honey baked ham and 500g of sausages, what was cooked - spaghetti and mashed potatoes (real ones, not powder), others - log cake from breadtalk courtesy of totti and boon2, sparkling grape juice, ju hua cha courtesy of my ahma, soft drinks, snacks, lollipops and choco courtesy of yan (was in a plastic bag so it's still intact =x).

met owllie at her workplace around 4pm and went to sheng siong to grab some snacks and drinks. hopped on a cab back as the drinks were pretty heavy le and owllie was carrying a huge bag. oh yes, and she was wearing a long skirt =P owllie and totti agreed to wear dress that day. totti did come in one but they both changed outta them so fast! wasted never take pic. next time ba =)

we were all supposed to meet at 5.30 at sengkang mrt. dest and mager arrived by 5.30 and being informed beforehand that ivan, jor, totti and boon2 would be late (rainie, andy and yan work and hence would arrive later), dest, mager, owllie and me went around looking at log cakes. decided to put a hold on getting one till the rest arrived. as the rest would only arrive around 6.30, we went to the arcade... yes yes, we ended up shooting hoops again. but the design of the machine was kinda sucky - low roof and inappropriate angle of the lower barrier. poor owllie kena knoked on the head a number of times =x we spent up all $10 and managed to get enough points to redeem a deck of donkey and happy family cards as well as a handful of mentos sweets. haha. we headed back to the mrt and called ivan and jor. jor had already arrived and had went shopping cuz he thought we weren't there yet. we all realised how tall jor is when he walked towards us in a crowd but yet none of us had trouble spotting his head poking out above all the rest. ivan arrived shortly after followed by totti and boon2.

i remember i had tonnes of fun suan-ing mager cuz of his gift from santa - braces! haha. he was saying he can't eat anything sticky - rules out the cake, and hard - rules out the chicken? i was joking that we should go to the foodcourt to dapao porridge for him.

anyway we decided to get back to my place and settle down first. was kinda funny cuz my cousin's (azzy's) parents came over to pick my ahma for dinner and i think they got quite a shock seeing that many people. imagine 8 of us squeezing into my bedroom. haha. anyway i think my aunt and uncle also know we all cramped up in the room so they auto siam after like 5 minutes. i was being cheeky and asked my ahma if she was coming home. she said of course she was (eh.. somehow she ended up not coming home that night =P) and my aunt followed to say that they were taking her to the nightclub but quickly corrected that to ktv. haha.

the rest started a game of uno while i decided to start heating up the food as it was nearing 7. all must be getting hungry le. lol. wasn't difficult to get the food ready as they only required reheating. only the spaghetti needed some boiling =x we started dinner around 7+ and most of us got done by 8... all except mager =P i remember he had such trouble eating that ivan and jor said i should cut his spaghetti... which i eh.. did eventually. i remember mager exclaiming that his spaghetti turned into rice. LOL

andy and rainie arrived on their own around 8+. totti and boon2 went to get yan from the mrt and they also brought back a little something extra - log cake! yummy! thanks =) after dinner the friendly game of monopoly began with andy and rainie, dest, ivan, jor, mager and owllie. andy and rainie were a team but that still left us with 6 players, 1 more than the number of counters provided. owllie ended using her keychain as a counter =x huge counter in comparison to the rest. took over owllie later on in the game. was quite funny cuz i didn't need to do anything and money kept coming in =P i was saying i take other people's money until i paiseh le. owllie like own and built houses on mayfair, coventry street and oxford street. all the super expensive property =x

at around 11.50 everyone got shoo-ed outta the house with some of us grabbing onto a spray can of streamers while i grabbed the sparkles leftover from the chalet and a box of matches. we were rushing outta the house so fast that i locked up the gates... leaving ivan in the house =x didn't realise he wasn't out yet ma. ivannnnnn.... you really turtle leh. *roarr* oh yes, though ivan is turtle at times must give him credit for staying throughout the party instead of going countdown =x we very persuasive hor? or rather rainie is =)

by the time all of us we gathered at the badminton court beside the void deck. it's midnight already. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! started spraying the streamers into the air and lighting sparkles. paiseh for the lousy streamers spray cans. think like spray a while no more streamers le, left air. zzz. side note: 孩子们 next time play with fire (sparkles) be CAREFUL hor.. if not don't play safer ah. went back upstairs and had our Christmas exchange present session. was kinda funny cuz we all seemed to get the gift from the person who got ours! dest and mager, me and jor.. eh.. the rest i'm not too sure. oh yes, i remember totti getting a maple trading card game. any guesses who it was from? (refer to the list of people who attended if you need some help)

then we had our log cake! *yummy yum yum* just realised log cakes are kinda hard to keep in one nice piece when you try to transfer them to a plate. *roarr* thanks yan for helping me with the cake =) i still have an extra slice of cake in my fridge now. the piece meant for mager cuz we forgot he couldn't have cake =x andy and rainie left around 1+. rainie said she hadn't told her mum she was staying. was a pity cuz they was actually enough space for everyone to lie down relatively comfortably. there was a queen bed (my ahma's), my bed, extra bed in the study, 3 mattresses and a sofa (eh.. dunno if mine's considered a sofa, but cuz of the lack of better words, sofa it is).

after the cake we watched a bit of harry potter and the chamber of secrets. thanks owllie who lugged the entire set of harry potter and LOTR (extended version) to work and then to my place and back home again. stopped watching harry potter after the 1st dic and played donkey! haha. i remember we didn't quite understand how to play the set of donkey cards we had cuz it had a pair of donkey cards. i always remember there being only 1 donkey card and the last person holding it would be the donkey. tried reading the instructions on the back of the box but didn't understand it, so we conveniently just took out 1 of the cards. LOL. i remember totti always ended up being one of the last two people playing. haha.
totti: play until i wanna get heart attack le la.

by the time we ended our game of donkey it was already about 3 or so. time to allocate sleeping places and chase everyone to bed. think sleeping arrangements were okay ba. everyone managed to sleep on a bed/mattress with ample space? eh.. maybe except mager who took the sofa. was enough space for him to sleep but insufficient to roll over =x we only allocated him the sofa instead of getting him to share 2 mattresses with ivan and jor cuz they were all too afraid of him, especially jor. poor jor got traumatised by mager. we were saying that it's only safe for jor if mager took the sofa which is separated from the mattresses by the back of the sofa =P i remember everyone going to bed shortly after. mager had said that he didn't plan to sleep and was watching LOTR (yes, again). but when i woke up around 6 he was asleep le. lols. was kinda funny cuz he like woke in a dazed state and slept sitting up around 8 and by 8+ be was concussed in a lying down position. all of us were awake by 10 or so while mager slept even after my ahma got home after 10.30. haha.

we washed up, packed up and finally decided to go for brunch. ate at the foodcourt at the mall before we parted ways and went headed home.

side note: my moomoo, poohie, cushion all don't smell like me le. so many different smells! *roarr* see the attendance pics, all of them got hijacked! haha

well.. i must say that this Christmas has been very different from all my other Christmases, especially in the recent few years. sorry if the food wasn't that great and if i wasn't a good host. haven't planned a Chirstmas party at my place before =x but if time allows and you guys allow me to, i'd be more than happy to host another one next year.

i'm truly thankful for all of your company this Christmas and i feel blessed to have known each one of you, not only those who came, but all of you who know of the existence of this blog. if you know of this blog, it's a symbol of my trust in you and that i want you to feel that you're a part of my life. Christmas this year has made me more emo than before. perhaps it's because OMT knows that after this gathering, the next one might be in a long time to come. it's hard to believe how far this friendship has come. i don't know how we made the journey this far, but i what i do know is that i treasure this friendship and am thankful for it. thanks girls. hope to see you all soon =)
